INTERNATIONALISATION OF GRADUATE AND POSTGRADUATE STUDIES WILL INCREASE QUALITY AND SUITABILITY OF OUR REGIONAL HIGHER EDUCATION
The Mission of the Directorate of Postgraduate Studies is to promote and maintain the excellence of the postgraduate programs offered by Koya University. DPG is stimulating and planning new postgraduate programs which links its surrounding community locally or globally with higher education. Our research and learning environment is unique and in line with our mainstream policy to create an excellent academic community for brighter education in Kurdistan. The range of interdisciplinary opportunities the School offers and the close association it has with culture industries in the region and diverse postgraduate life. This is why Koya University plays a create a role in boosting postgraduate and research study in Kurdistan.
The Directorate strategic plan is to work cooperatively and collaboratively with the faculty committees on Research quality, Research Monitoring, Research Ethics, Research Development and Higher Degrees.
Also, the Directorate wants Postgraduate research involves the scholarly investigation of a topic that leads to the establishment of new knowledge and/or concepts and principles that advance understanding of an academic discipline.
The directorate is responsible for the following activities:
Assist in preparation of the yearly postgraduate study plan.
Assist in implementation of postgraduate studies plan through the four faculties.
Receive all applications, sorting and consolidating them in preparation for the results and announce the names of the admitted students.
Delivering instructions, orders and generalisations related to postgraduate affairs to the colleges and higher institutes at the university and answer their questions and comments.
Preparing the statistics and tables that belong to the postgraduate studies and students.
Answering the queries of postgraduate students and their complaints and observations in coordination with the Ministry and the University guidelines, throughout the year.
Documentation of the date of the graduate and save them electronically.
Regulating and issuing the postgraduate certificates

The Directorate of Postgraduate affairs (DPG) coordinates all higher education studies after undergraduate programs in the University. While postgraduate programs are actually resident in the various faculties and departments that offer these programs.
The ‘Directorate of Postgraduate affairs’ operates under the division of the Vice President Scientific and Postgraduate Affairs. The Directorate provides professional research support services to postgraduate students and their supervisors and coordinates postgraduate research endeavours in all faculties.
Directorate Function and Mission
The main function of the Directorate of Postgraduate affairs is to coordinate all matters related to the provision of higher education beyond the first degree.
Doctorate, Master and Specialities Programs, all under the support of the Directorate of Postgraduate Studies, are generated in the various Faculties.
